How Much Does a Website Cost in Malaysia? 2026 Price Guide (RM)

How Much Does a Website Cost in Malaysia? 2026 Price Guide (RM)

The honest answer: a professional business website in Malaysia typically costs between RM 4,000 and RM 12,000, while an online store usually starts around RM 8,000. The range is wide because “a website” can mean very different things. Here is what drives the price, so you can compare quotes properly.

Typical website prices in Malaysia (2026)

These are indicative market ranges we see for agency-built websites in Malaysia. Freelancers can be cheaper; large custom builds can be higher. Prices are before SST where applicable.

    Landing page / one-pagerRM 1,500 – 4,0001–2 weeksAd campaigns, events, a single offer
    Business website (5–10 pages)RM 4,000 – 12,0003–6 weeksClinics, F&B, consultants, service companies
    Online store (Shopify / WooCommerce)RM 8,000 – 30,0004–10 weeksRetail and D2C brands selling online

    What actually drives the cost

    • Number of pages and content. More pages means more design, copywriting and testing time.
    • Custom design vs. template. A tailored design built around your brand costs more than a customised template, but it converts better and does not look like everyone else’s.
    • Languages. Many Malaysian brands need English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese versions. Each language adds writing, layout checks and SEO work.
    • Payments and integrations. Online stores should support FPX, DuitNow QR, major e-wallets and cards. Each gateway, plus courier and accounting integrations, adds setup time.
    • Photography, video and copywriting. Great visuals and clear copy are often what separate a website that sells from one that just exists.
    • SEO foundations. Proper page structure, speed, schema markup and redirects are far cheaper to build in from day one than to fix later.

    The costs people forget

Ask every vendor to list these separately, so you are comparing like with like:

    • Domain name: roughly RM 50–150 per year, depending on the extension (.com, .my, .com.my).
    • Hosting: from a few hundred ringgit a year for a simple site to higher for busy stores. Speed here directly affects Google rankings and sales.
    • Maintenance and security: updates, backups and monitoring. Skipping this is how sites get hacked.
    • Business email: a professional address such as you@yourcompany.com.
    • Ongoing marketing: a new website does not bring visitors by itself. Budget for SEO, content or ads.

Rule of thumb: if two quotes differ by more than 2×, they almost certainly cover different scopes. Ask what is included in design rounds, page count, languages, SEO, training and after-launch support.

Cheap website vs. value for money

A RM 800 website can be fine for a placeholder. But if your website is meant to bring in customers, think about what one extra customer is worth. If a new patient, gym member or B2B client is worth RM 2,000 over their lifetime, a site that wins you just a few extra customers a month pays for itself quickly. The cheapest option is rarely the lowest-cost option once you count lost leads.

7 tips to get the best price without cutting corners

    1. Write down your goal first. Calls, WhatsApp enquiries, bookings or online sales? The goal decides the design.
    2. Prepare your content. Logos, photos and draft text speed up the project and reduce cost.
    3. Start with what you need. Launch with the pages that earn money and add the rest later.
    4. Insist on mobile-first. Most Malaysian traffic is on phones, so test on mid-range Android devices, not just a new iPhone.
    5. Own your assets. Your domain, hosting account and source files should be in your name.
    6. Add a WhatsApp button. It is the simplest conversion tool for most Malaysian businesses.
    7. Ask for a fixed quote. A clear scope and timeline beats open-ended hourly billing.
